Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between weighted and unweighted grading?
Unweighted grading sums all points earned and divides by total possible points. Weighted grading multiplies each assignment's percentage by its weight, allowing categories like exams to count more than homework. Leave weights blank for unweighted mode.
Do the weights need to add up to 100%?
Ideally, yes. However, the calculator will normalize your weights automatically. If your weights total 80%, each weight is proportionally scaled to represent its share of the total. This ensures accurate results even with incomplete weight assignments.
What letter grade scale is used?
The standard US grading scale: A (93-100), A- (90-92), B+ (87-89), B (83-86), B- (80-82), C+ (77-79), C (73-76), C- (70-72), D+ (67-69), D (63-66), D- (60-62), and F (below 60).
Can I mix weighted and unweighted assignments?
For the most accurate results, either fill in weights for all assignments or leave all weights blank. If some assignments have weights and others do not, only the assignments with weights will be included in the weighted calculation.
