What Is a PDF Merger?
A PDF merger combines two or more separate PDF files into a single document in the order you specify. The process is lossless โ no content is re-encoded, compressed, or altered. Every page from every source file is stitched together exactly as it appears in the original.
When Should You Merge PDF Files?
Combining a Report

Merge vs Split โ Which Do You Need?
| Situation | Use This Tool | Result |
|---|---|---|
| You have multiple PDFs and want one combined file | Merge PDF โ You're here | One PDF containing all pages |
| You have one large PDF and want individual pages | Split PDF | Multiple smaller PDFs |
| Your merged PDF is too large to email | Compress PDF | Same PDF, smaller file size |
| You need to edit content inside the merged PDF | PDF to Word | Editable Word document |
Tips for Best Results When Merging PDFs
- 1Plan your page order before uploading. Rename your files with numbers (01-cover, 02-body, 03-appendix) so they sort correctly when you select them all at once.
- 2Compress large files first. If individual PDFs are very large, use our PDF Compressor before merging to keep the final file size manageable.
- 3Check page orientation consistency. If some files are portrait and others are landscape, the merged PDF will contain mixed orientations. Standardise before merging if possible.
- 4For batches over 20 files, merge in groups. Merge the first 20 files, then merge that result with the next group.
- 5Remove password protection first. Password-protected PDFs cannot be merged until the password restriction is removed.
