Frequently Asked Questions
What audio formats can I upload?
You can upload MP3, WAV, OGG, and M4A files. The tool uses the Web Audio API to decode these formats, so compatibility depends on your browser. Most modern browsers support all four formats.
Why does it download as WAV instead of MP3?
WAV is an uncompressed format that can be encoded entirely in the browser without any server-side processing. This ensures your audio never leaves your device. You can convert the WAV to MP3 afterwards using our MP4 to MP3 tool or any audio converter.
Is there a file size limit?
We recommend files up to 100MB. Since all processing happens in your browser, larger files may be slow to decode depending on your device's memory and processing power.
Can I select an exact time range?
Yes. You can either click and drag on the waveform to visually select a region, or type precise start and end times (in seconds) into the input fields. Both methods stay in sync.
Is my audio uploaded to a server?
No. All processing is done entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your audio file never leaves your device, ensuring complete privacy.
Is this tool free to use?
Yes, the Audio Cutter is completely free with no registration, watermarks, or usage limits.
